The scene we cut
The corridor
Lee Marvin walks down a corridor. No dialogue. Just footsteps.
Marvin had approval over the script and gave it all to Boorman, a British director who had only made one film, and protected him from the studio for the whole shoot. The corridor is at Los Angeles airport, and the footsteps continue over the next scene because Boorman wanted them to sound like a heartbeat.
